meet maura

Born and raised in Texas, she splits her time between her home state and Alaska for work. Much of her time is spent in the Pacific working as a marine biologist. Outside of science, she’s deeply drawn to the arts—whether that’s dance, painting, sewing, photography, or exploring creative expression in all its forms.

Don’t be fooled by how casually she shares her experiences. As we got to know her more, we were caught off guard by the incredible, wild things she’s done and is doing. Every answer revealed another layer, and it quickly became clear there’s way more to her than meets the eye.

so aldo faundez [photographer] told me that you said you will need a skinikini everytime you shoot bikinis shoots with him. how true is this?

Haha that is true!

what makes you want to shoot in a skinikini?

I love the quality and the designs, I also know I’ll be looking my best when wearing one. Also getting to meet the designer makes it all the more special.

skinikinis are designed to show a little more skin than your typical bikini. how do you tap into your confidence when wearing one?

It’s easy to be confident when there’s 5 different cameras flashing at you and amazing photographers who tell you that you look good.

what inspired you to start modeling?

I was in college studying marine biology and one of my classmates had started doing photography and asked if I would do a sexy scuba diving shoot and I had so much fun I’m now in my 5th years of modeling!

if you had to choose only one area of modeling, swim, fashion, fitness, beauty, commercial, or creative, which would you choose and why?

If you look at my page you would probably guess swim or fashion, but it’s a creative. I like being able to turn my imagination into reality.

besides hanging out in bikinis, what else do you do?

When I’m home and not working I’m basically that unemployed friend who does random side quests. I love the gym, hanging out with my dogs, sunbathing on boats, flying planes, sewing, gaming, reading, fishing, you get the point, haha.

what’s something people don’t usually expect about you?

I drive a stick shift.

is there any recent accomplishment are you most proud of?

Does being the first skinikinis vixin [of the month] count? If it doesn’t then making my entire outfit for a rave I went to last week.

whats next for you?

I’m going to just keep creating and enjoying life until it’s time for me to go back out to sea.
